Our young hampire learns a valuable lesson: actions have consequences.
Happy Wednesday! Updating today feels a little weird, but it's the best choice for a couple of reasons. Juvenile humor about updating on "Hump Day" aside, my goal is to go M-W-F eventually, and this should flow nicely when that day comes. Until then, I'll occasionally be posting Friday Extras (sketches, one-panels, quick comics, etc.)
Some of these will go in the archive, but it's a good reason to keep an eye on the blog! As I understand it, there may be a Friday Extra this week...

Awwe. I feel so bad for him. 🙁

Dude.
I LOVE your style. I love the characters. I love the mature content and foul language.
I beg you, don’t let your work slide into the story-non-development-witty-comment-pit where QC currently dwells.
Nick
Thanks, Anon! Don’t worry, stuff will continue to happen.

Just read through the archives. Got to say, I approve.

I too can throw French around! Dearly enjoying this comic and its prescribed dose of ribaldry.
Nick
Oh, the gut-wrenching angst for such a tragic figure!
– Loving the comic…didn’t you used to hang out on the Avalon webcomic forum back in the day?
Ducky
I don’t get one thing though – She’s a lifer? Doesn’t that mean someone who’s sentenced to a lifetime sentence in jail? Both Wiktionary and dictionary.com gave me that definition of the word… I’m not a native English speaker.
Nick
Thanks guys! Glad you’re liking it.
@Nick – Indeed I did! Are you Nick101?
@Ducky – In this example, Arne just means “lifelong customer.” In a way he’s comparing the Food Baron to a prison. 🙂

I’m Nick P, I helped out with some of the fanfics that happened over there (like http://forums.keenspot.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=38701).
Really enjoying your comic, though!
Got to aks – how does Purvous understand (or try to) what Les is?
Nick
Ah, yes, I remember you. Far nobler a participation than I had – I just drew dirty pictures. 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying it! Purvous hasn’t really had much of a chance to interact with Les yet, so that should be interesting!

I can’t help but feel bad for him…
Great comic btw, I always look forward to updates.

Love the expression on that guy’s face
Rocky
The expressions in the last 3 silent panels speak volumes. Hilarious.

Is it weird I read the title as Vampire Weekend?
Nick Wright
You found my pun.
Waltz
And it was brilliant.
I love you even more for it. x3

I read it the same way. Although, I don’t get the pun. There was a split second of recognition, but I lost it as soon as I caught what it really said.

Content Advisory
The original Treading Ground comics were created between 2003 and 2011. As such, you'll find some unfortunate hallmarks of raunchy comedies of the time. These include casual misogyny, dubious sexual situations, insensitive edgelord humor and a character using the r-slur.
While these are not typically portrayed as positive, it's definitely not how I would write the comic today, and you should know that going in. That said, there's still a lot of good stuff here.
There's also some nudity. Consider the whole comic NSFW!
