  1. Well it is midnight, is that early or late?

  2. Lol was worth a shot asking

    1. You can’t receive if you don’t ask. That’s why I ask random women for blow jobs. One of them is bound to say yes sooner or later.

      1. It is the amount of time you would spend in the ER when the majority of them kicked you in the nuts.

        1. Damn right man

        2. I’m used to it by now…

    2. Silly Pervous, Nina’s the dark chaser, not Rose. Although, I don’t think kissing is on her mind…

  3. Ah, the long-awaited return!

  4. PURVOUS!

  5. I don’t get it 🙁

    1. Neither does Nate. It’s Purvous being Purvous.

      1. and, by mathematical/logical properties that I’m too lazy to name/think of, Purvous being awesome.

        1. If he says something bold and perverted, that’s just swagger coming out the wrong way. That is the law of retard. Or the law of cosecant. I can’t remember.

  6. The Most Interesting Man in the World

Anyone have any ideas as to what this ‘major announcement’ is?

    1. The “Major Announcement” is…. That he doesn’t always drink, but when he does he prefers Guinness. Dos Exes sucks

  7. Aboot time we saw a first comment that wasn’t a “FIRST” comment. Not that there is anything wrong with it, just kinda not my cup of tea.

And it looks like Nate got… (shades) ninja’d.

    1. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

      1. can i kiss her? 🙂

      2. Thank You G! Thank You! *breaks guitar*

  8. And now for something random.

    1. …completely different.

It’s ‘and now for something completely different.’

      1. Nope. Pretty sure it’s, “and now, here’s something you’ll ALL enjoy!”

        1. Oh no, it is “and now for something completely different”. Sometimes with a small change, such as “and now for something completely the same” which sort of describes the purpose comment when it’s compared to mister Monty Python’s.

        2. “And Now here’s something we hope you’ll really like”

        3. “Not a lot, but you’ll like it.”

  9. Loving that poster: “Let us know if you want more butter. And don’t forget, we can tell when you’re lying.”

  10. Does anyone but me find the sign about butter on the popcorn the funniest part about this strip? Or am I the only one who noticed it?

    1. Don’t worry, you’re not alone!

    2. Glad you guys squinted for that one. 🙂

      1. Squinted? whats that? I just used the Zoom. 😛

      2. You know, some of us have good enough eyesight that we don’t have to zoom or squint.

        1. well yea, I have more than “perfect” vision, but sometimes it’s just easier to zoom.

        2. Also taking in the factor of our lazyness here…. *zooms in*

  11. Oh my God this is hilarious! The sign is just genius! And Purvous is just so perfectly random!

  12. Hey! I wanted to know what was the dealing with the yaoi last strip!! u_ú

    1. Everyone was expecting an NSFW strip, so he was just playing with expectations.

  13. Purvous scared the SHIT outta of me.

Also, I love the sunset background.

  14. Purvous maybe crazy, but he knows what he wants. 😀

  15. Well, only 2 more strips of this then eh? Damn. It’s been a good comic and I’m sad to see it end. I wonder how many loose ends will be able to be tied up in this week and how many will remain open for potential future projects.

  16. Wow, when I read the major annoucement, I never thought it would be about the series finale of Trending Grounds. I am not going to lie or sugar coat it, I have truly enjoyed Trending Grounds for the last few months I’ve been reading it.

It’s had it’s ups and downs (like most comics) but unlike some web comics, this one is not predicable, boring or relies on plot themes that have been done 101 times.

That said, it’s one of the greatest retailed themed comedic comics I have ever read. It has everything, a good plot, exceptional comedy and drama that is realistic and based in a fantasy world.

I can only speak for myself, but I enjoyed Trending Grounds. With webcomics these days, it’s hard to find a decent comic that is worth reading, much less continuing.

I look forward to the final two comics and I wonder what the series finale will be.

    1. I fully agree with you in everything you just said, but one thing that I just have to mention cause it really bugged me. Its not Trending Grounds. It’s Treading Ground 😛 sorry for being a pain.

  17. I like how you pretty much mirrored their conversation from when the shitstorm started, it really adds that nice “end of movie and everything’s good” feeling to the comic. Sad to hear the news but at the same time I can’t wait to see what you’ll give us next!

  18. Purvous invented the DERP FACE.

    1. Purvous was derping before derping was cool.

  19. … I was seriously wondering what happened to Purvious…
    XD haha

  20. The return of Purvous was bitter sweet, my friends.

  21. lol I love Purvous’ face in the last panel. Totally dead serious, and his right eye looks like it actually straightened out, the left glaring right at the reader for the full effect. Very nice.

  22. Hang on… Nate was leaning against the wall, but Purvous still managed to get behind him? There can be only one explanation: Purvous has superpowers, and can phase through walls! Sorry for revealing the theme for the upcoming comic, but it looks like it’s going to be a Great Lakes Avengers style thing. >:=)>

“Avengers ASSEMBLE! Cleanup needed in aisle thirteen!”

  23. Heh… I remember Keenspot. I’m gonna miss this comic, but I can’t wait to see what you’re gonna come up with next, Nick.

  24. I actually just hopped on the wagon in Feb myself. I’m going to miss Treading Ground, but if what you say is true then we’ll be seeing these guys again soon.

Been a nice, fun, sometimes sexy read! Thank you. 😀

  25. Thanks for the ride, it’s been great!

  26. Please, please please say that there is the possibility of making this into a book

    1. I’m going to get that together ASAP. It’ll be announced both here and on the new comic site.

  27. well i am sad to see this comic go i read it on the first day it came out and now i will be here to see it on its last it was a great comic man looking forward to your other projects

  28. But I dont want anymore popcorn….
Yes you do, yes you do.
    Yes I do…

Also Nick, as a loyal reader, I will follow you were ever you go. Unless it’s Austria… I f*ing hate Austria.

    1. I have burned my bridges in Austria. I can’t go into the details, but if an Austrian ever calls you a nichwricht, rest assured it is not a compliment.

  29. I would lie if I said fine its been a good run, I was hoping that, like Dick Tracy, Ally Oop, Mary Worth or Prince Valient this would go on through a succession of authors a NSFW version the forever Web Comic, after all if Garfield keeps on going then something that is enjoyable to read can do no less. However I respect your right to shut down your creation and move to other projects. Will look them over as you bring them out.

    1. He’s not shutting it down, it’s the story coming to an end. He has plans for these characters too, it’s just not going to be the same story.

  30. Purvous doesn’t need to explain why he is there…although maybe he has broken his curfew from his accomodation? In which case, he must be up to no good…

  31. Random Prussian Guy

Hrm… any chance Purvous can teleport? I have a friend who seems to appear behind you just like that. You check every corner and when you’re turning around… there he is.

By the way, in the second panel Purvous sounds like a mobster.

    1. Huh. What a coincidence. I was that guy in high school. Guess every school has one.

  32. I got to admit you nailed Pervious’s face in the last shot. It is the most serious/sincere he has ever been. (Or at least since “I WANNA MAKE BABY!”)

  33. Yay, Purvous!

  34. lol, first thing i thiought while reading this was a reverse version of ‘where your boyfriend at?’ .

  35. Any chance of an epilogue?
